13th January 2012 will ever remain fresh and indelible in the hearts and minds of not only the Aduda family but also the very many people regardless of class and social status that had anything to do with Chief (Mrs) Jummai Tanimu Aduda,MON;(aka Mama grassroots, Mama Karu, Mama Gwagwalada, Mama Senator or Mama Aduda) as she was popularly known, meant different things to different people. That was the day the cold hands of death snatched her away from mother earth after a seemingly mild heart attack in India where she had taken one of her adopted sons for a heart surgery.
This birthed the Jummai Aduda Organization, a desire to uphold her legacy and further her passion in life which was to give voice to the voiceless, rural socio economic empowerment of the less privileged amongst which widows were a major consideration and enhance women’s rights in all its ramifications.
She was an awesome Wife, Mother, Grandmother, philanthropist per-excellence, business woman and a politician and recipient of Nigeria’s National Merit Award Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) amongst others. Mama Aduda was married to Rt. Rev Tanimu Aduda, MON the Anglican Bishop of Gwagwalada, She had 8 Biological children and several adopted children.
The Organization was founded in memory of Mama Aduda in 2012 to amongst others:
1. Promote women socioeconomic, human rights and rural empowerment thru the Abuja Grassroots Association.
2. Promote widows socioeconomic empowerment thru the Abuja Widows Association.
3. Promote the Girl Child education.
